Dacia MediaNav Evolution - firmware 8.0.5 - Custom maps

The following tutorial will enable installation of custom maps on your Dacia MediaNav Evolution device.

Requirements:
  • Dacia MediaNav Evolution with software version 8.0.5 (CAUTION: use only on version 8.0.5 otherwise you might brick your device!)
    • you device must be activated to support Full Europe maps! (factory maps support code that is written only once on the device)
  • USB stick with at least 8GB free space and exFAT formatted;
  • Minimum experience on using Total Commander like tools;
  • Navteq HERE Q2 or Q3.2017 (or newer) or compatible maps;
  • the following archives:

Steps to follow:

  1. Create a directory on the root of the USB Stick called BACKUP;
  2. Unpack [MAGIC_USB_DISK] on the root of the USB stick;
  3. Unpack [Dacia_MediaNav_Archive] on the root of the USB stick;
  4. Update the content of USB_STICK\Dacia-MediaNav-Evolution-f8.0.5-iGO-CustomMaps\Storage Card4\NNG\CONTENT\{MAP, POI, SPEEDCAM} with the NQ HERE maps you already have;
    1. You have to add to each directory the corresponding files from the NQ HERE maps package, as follows:
      1. MAP -> *.fbl *hnr (be carrefull to also include Basemap*.fbl)
      2. POI -> *.poi
      3. SPEEDCAM -> *.spc
  5. Start you MediaNav Evo device, wait to start with your engine started (keep you engine started until the whole process ends otherwise you might brick your MediaNav);
  6. Insert the USB_STICK in the USB port;
  7. After a while a Total Commander window will appear;
  8. Make a full copy of Storage Card4 on MD\BACKUP (MD is you USB_STICK) [it will take a while so be patient);
  9. Start MD\iTaskMgr and from Process tab kill the nngnavi.exe process;
  10. Delete the following entries:
    1. Storage Card4\NNG\Content\{MAP, POI, SPEEDCAM}
    2. Storage Card4\NNG\nngnavi.exe
  11. Copy the following entries:
    1. MD\Dacia-MediaNav-Evolution-f8.0.5-iGO-CustomMaps\Storage Card4\NNG\CONTENT\MAP -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content\
    2. MD\Dacia-MediaNav-Evolution-f8.0.5-iGO-CustomMaps\Storage Card4\NNG\CONTENT\POI -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content\
    3. MD\Dacia-MediaNav-Evolution-f8.0.5-iGO-CustomMaps\Storage Card4\NNG\CONTENT\SPEEDCAM -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content\
    4. MD\Dacia-MediaNav-Evolution-f8.0.5-iGO-CustomMaps\Storage Card4\NNG\nngnavi.exe -> Storage Card4\NNG\
  12. Restart the MediaNav Evo and check if the new maps are available.
  13. In case the new navigation software doesn't accept the maps you can revert to the original state by:
    1. Start MD\iTaskMgr and from Process tab kill the nngnavi.exe process;
    2. Delete the following entries:
      1. Storage Card4\NNG\Content\{MAP, POI, SPEEDCAM}
      2. Storage Card4\NNG\nngnavi.exe
    3. Copy the following entries:
      1. MD\BACKUP\Storage Card4\NNG\Content\MAP -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content
      2. MD\BACKUP\Storage Card4\NNG\Content\POI -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content
      3. MD\BACKUP\Storage Card4\NNG\Content\SPEEDCAM -> Storage Card4\NNG\Content
      4. MD\BACKUP\Storage Card4\NNG\nngnavi.exe -> Storage Card4\NNG
